3. DOWNLOAD AND COMPLETE ACTIVITY
Download the images for this activity by clicking here. Open up InDesign and follow these steps to start the activity:
  • Choose Create New>Document.
  • Uncheck facing pages so the pages don’t appear side by side.
  • Change the number of pages to two.
  • Change the width to “8 in” (it will convert it) and the height to “12 in.”
  • Click “Okay.”
  • In InDesign, hit File>Place to insert an image. (It is very important that you go to “File” and then to “Place” and that you don’t copy and paste. This will make sure that the images are properly linked, and not pixelated.) Place the image called “PageOne.jpg” onto the first page. (To re-size, hold Command+Shift at the same time while r-sizing.)
  • Repeat that process again to place “PageTwo.png” onto the second page. Put them both on the left side of the page. It should fill half of the page. (Tip: Make sure when you have an image selected that the edges around it are blue. If they are orange, click off of the image, and select it again.)
  • Use the shortcut Command+ to zoom in, and the images should look a little pixelated. To check and make sure that images aren’t really pixelated, we need to turn the display performance of InDesign to “high” rather than typical. To do this go to the menu at the very top under “View” and down to “Display Performance” and then turn it to high quality display. The images should look better now.
  • Continue the assignment by starting at step 1.
